Hello, everyone! I've been so M.I.A lately, but this week has been CRAZY! The good news is that I'm learning a lot about PR, and have been blessed with some new opportunities that I can't wait to share with you all! :)
So lately, I have been all about social media. I mean, who isn't really? If you missed my post about the glory of social media, read it here! However, lately I feel that people get too hung up on simply social media, and think that is what public relations is about. Wrong dot com.
PR is all about promoting an image to the public. That being said, social media is a fantastic tool to help convey the message to a wide audience for free. However, it is not the only tool out there!
I think people, not just people looking to get into PR, do not really value the power of networking. Relating to people in an genuine, natural way will do wonders for any business, and creates a loyal relationship. PR is centered around relationships! Getting to know people in every possible field you can will expand your circle as well, which could help you if you need them for something like an event.
In PR, networking with people like journalists and other PR people might seem like top priority, but branching out and being an active part in whatever community you reside in can really add to your resource list. You know a bunch of people in different areas, and you never know who will end up where!
This is an extremely brief post, but I just wanted to pop in and share a little tidbit with you all! In the upcoming weeks I'll be delving into more specific PR topics, so stay tuned!
